Abstract:Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has strong infectious power, and multi-generation clustered cases are easier to be appearing. To understand the relevant characteristics of multi-generation clustered cases of COVID-19, the epidemiological description and analysis of multi-generation clustered cases reported in Henan province were performed. The clustered epidemics of COVID-19 with more than 3 generation were selected from the public health emergency management information system of Henan province, as of February 23, 2020. The basic characteristic of cases; regional distribution, time distribution, clinical type distribution and incubation period were analyzed. Results: Multi-generation clustered cases accounted for 9.05% of all confirmed cases in Henan province, in addition, common and light cases accounted for a relatively high proportion, with 51.54% and 23.08% respectively. All of the multi-generation clustered cases in Henan province accounted for 60.38% of confirmed cases in its district, with a maximum of 4 reported clustered outbreaks. The number of cases was mostly concentrated on the second generation (58.46%) and the third generation (23.85%). The interval from onset to diagnosis was gradually decreased with the increase of generations. The high age group (> 65 years) accounts for highest proportion (42.86%) in cases with critical illness. Median incubation period is 5 d. COVID-19 has a long incubation period, strong infectious power and infectivity during incubation period, so the cluster epidemic is the key to prevent and control. The analysis and understanding of multi-generation clustered cases can, to a certain extent, provide a certain guidance for the dynamic prevention and control of the gathering of personnel who will return to work and school.
