Abstract:The present study aimed to analyze the epidemiological characteristics of human anthrax in Yunnan Province, and to provide scientific guidance for prevention and control measures. Epidemiological analysis was applied to analyze anthrax surveillance data from 2010 to 2019 in Yunnan Province. A total of 94 cases of anthrax were reported during this period. Among these cases, 93 were cutaneous anthrax, accounting for 98.94%, and one was unspecified. The incidence of anthrax was seasonal and was mainly concentrated in May to October (80 cases, 85.10%). The sex composition was 70 males and 24 females, and the incidence rate of anthrax was 2.9∶1. The minimum age for anthrax cases was 1 year, and the maximum age of onset was 92 years. The highest number of cases was mainly among people 30~59 years of age (70 cases, 74.47%). Farming was the primary vocation (85 cases, 90.43%). The reported cases were distributed in 15 counties and districts in eight states (cities), among which Chuxiong Prefecture reported the most cases, followed by Kunming City, Zhaotong City, Weshan Prefecture, Lijiang City, and Dali Prefecture. The main epidemic areas were Yuanmou County, Ludian County, Yongsheng County, and Luqian County. The epidemic of anthrax in Yunnan province has been stably declining, and outbreaks have occurred repeatedly in former epidemic areas. Farmers are the main infected population. Health education and publicity must be strengthened to improve anthrax prevention. We will continue to improve cooperation between the animal husbandry and veterinary department and the health department, and jointly carry out standardized measures to control the epidemic.
