Abstract:In the present paper,a case of mixed infection with toxoplasmosis and eperythrozoonosis in swine is reported,in which the diagnosis of this kind of infection was made by means of clinical investigation, gross autopsy, histopathological and serological examinations as well as the PCR technique. The results showed that eperythrozoons and trophozoites of toxoplasma could be demonstrated in blood smear of the infected animals and large amount of toxoplasmic pseudocysts was visible in tissue sections of lung and liver. PCR assay used to detect the conserved toxoplasmic genes also showed positive result. All these results indicate that the infection of this pig is due to the mixed infection with toxoplasmosis and eperythrozoonsis.
