Abstract:Aim In order to further investigate the regulatory effects and molecular mechanisms of hepatic granuloma in mice infected with Schistosoma japonicum induced by immunomodulators(including SE 1 and SE 2) Methods Thirty mice were divided evenly into 3 groups, mice in both groups were immunized subcutaneously with SE 1 and SE 2 three times,an interval of one week between two times, the total dosage was 105μg and 160μg per mouse, respectively Ten days after stopping immunization, mice were killed for observations of different indices during 7th to 11th week after infection Results The mean area and volume of hepatic egg granuloma in group SE 1 and group SE 2 were more significantly decreased respectively than those in control group(P<0 01)at 7wk,9wk and 11wk post infection, the size of hepatic egg granuloma had no significant difference(P>0 05)between group SE 1 and group SE 2 The IL 2 and IL 4 levels(pg/ml)in both groups were obviously higher than those in control group at 7wk post infection, and the IL 10 contents of above mentioned three groups were detected more higher levels; the IL 10 levels of two experimental groups were obviously higher(P<0 05)than that in control group at 11wk after infection Conclusion Immunomodulator SE could induce markedly regulatory effects of anti hepatic egg granuloma and schistosome fibrosis in infected mice, the molecular mechanisms are closely associated with the dynamics of regulatory effects of Th1 type(IL 2)and Th2 type(IL 4 and IL 10)cytokines responses
