Abstract:Aim\ Chlamydia pneumoniae(Cpn) is the third strain differentiated after Chlamydia psittaci and Chlamydia trachomatis.Serology surveys suggested most population of adults were infected by Cpn.It is associated with many diseases.More particularly,Cpn has been associated with atherosclerosis(AS) recently.Thus,confirming this relation must play a significant role in understanding the mechanism of AS and treating the AS.But isolation and propagation of Cpn is more difficult than other two Chlamydiaes.In this respect,it is important to select a proper cell line.The study aim at the selecting a optimal cell line for the isolation and propagation of Cpn.Methods and Results\ Three cells were compared,that is,HL,Hep-2 and McCoy cell lines.Two type strains(TW-183 and AR-39)of Cpn were selected.Infectivity of cell lines was assessed for counting the number inclusion per microscopic field.Conclusions\ The result of Student-New-Keul analysis suggested that Hep-2 is superior to other two cell lines for propagating Cpn.
