Application of Microtiter Plate-Hybridization Methods for the Detection of Malaria Parasites in the Blood Sampled on Filter-Paper Disks in Solomon Islands
Abstract:113 samples of blood collected by finger-prick of the inhabitants in Solomon islands on filter paper disks were examined with microtiter plate-hybridization method. The result suggested:1). Only 5 μl blood was used in this experithent and after natural dry,it was easy to store and to transport the blood sampled on filter-paper disks. The isolation of DNA from the filter paper was very simple. 2). This method has high specificity,.sensitivity and the detection limit of this method can come up to 1. 5 worm/ul blood. 3). This method can be used not onlyfor diagnosis of malaria infection with single species and identification of the species of malaria, but for diagnosis of the concurrent infection with multiply species of malaria.
