Abstract:The purpose of this study was to understand the infection status of occupational exposed population for H9 subtype avian influenza virus, and provide background data and scientific evidence for the prevention and control of human avian influenza in Fujian. Antibody levels of H9 subtype avian influenza virus in occupational exposed population from Fujian were detected by modified routine semimicro hemagglutination hemagglutinationinhibition test. The characteristics of seropositive population distribution were described and statistically analyzed. It was indicated that the overall positive rate was 4.12 %( 243/5897) between 2004 and 2008. The average geometric antibody titer was as low as 1: 22.8. Among the 9 prefectures, the positive rate of Ningde was the highest (6.24%, 26/417), while Fuzhou with the lowest (1.46%, 13/893) . The detection rate was the highest (6.68%, 49/733) in 2005, but the lowest rate (1.33%, 8/603) occurred in 2004. The seropositive rates for occupational exposure in poultry farming, fowl slaughtering and veterinary staff were 4.38%, 3.52% and 3.14%, respectively. These results indicated that there was H9 subtype avian influenza virus infection among occupational exposed population in Fujian, the infection rate was low. Moreover, no significant difference was observed in antibody positive rates for prefectures, ages and occupations.
