Abstract:Objective To compare Real Time PCR and ELISA methods in detecting severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) cases.Method 143 acute sera of SFTS cases were collected in Henan province,2011.All the samples were dectected by Real time PCR and ELISA-IgM,and the results were analysed in statistics.Result The positive rate of Real time PCR in detecting 143 SFTS cases is 50.35%,and that of ELISA-IgM is 37.76%.There was significant difference in results between Real Time PCR and ELISA(P<0.05).However, there was no signigicant defference in results between these two methods if sample was collected more than a week from onset of illness. Conclusion Real-time PCR method is more suitable for fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome in early laboratory diagnosis. Whereas samples of SFTS cases using ELISA method for the laboratory diagnosis should be collected more than a week from onset of illness.
