Abstract:The Mycoplasma hyorhinis (Mhr), the first pathogen isolated from pigs, can cause pneumonia, polyserositis, arthritis, and otitis media, which causes great harm to aquaculture. To a certain extent, Mycoplasma hyorhinis affected the growth and parturition performance of pigs. Recent studies have shown that the Mycoplasma hyorhinis is significantly related to a variety of human tumors, which also contaminates human and animal cell culture. However, the pathogenesis of Mycoplasma hyorhinis in swine pneumonia and the mechanisms that Mycoplasma hyorhinis colonized in the respiratory tract and induced systemic disease are not well understood. Up to now, the prevention of Mycoplasma hyorhinis is very difficult, and it is still no ideal antibiotic or vaccine. Animal models are the foundation for pathogenesis studies, vaccine, and drug research on Mycoplasma hyorhinis infection. The advances in experimental study on Mycoplasma hyorhinis in animal model are reviewed in this paper.
