Abstract:To isolate the novel bunyavirus in Henan Province, China, 2013, acute phase serums from severe fever with thrombocytopenia (SFTS) patients were cultured using Vero cells. S segment complete sequences were amplified by RT-PCR from the positive cultured samples, and sequence homology and phylogenetic analysis were carried out. As a result, 22 novel bunyavirus strains were isolated from 64 SFTS acute phase serum in Henan, 2013, in which the sequence identity of complete S segment was from 95.90% to 100%, and that of encoding nucleocapsid protein was from 99.50% to 100%. Twenty-two strains belonged to A, B and E genotypes, including 18 strains of type A and 2 strains of B and E in each, which suggested a genotype of novel bunyavirus prevailed in Henan Province in the year of 2013.
