Abstract:In this study, we aimed to investigate the effects of hepatitis B virus on lipid metabolism related proteins both in mRNA and protein levels. To address these issues, six proteins, including apolipoprotein A-I (ApoAI), apolipoprotein E (ApoE), superoxide dismutase 2 (SOD2), NAD(P)H dehydrogenase, quinone 1 (NQO1), fatty acid binding protein 1 (FABP1) and acetyl-Coenzyme A acetyltransferase 2(ACAT2) in hepatoma cells either harboring HBV or transiently transfected with 1.2×length of HBV genome, were detected by real-time PCR or western blot analysis. Results revealed that HBV could down-regulate the expression of SOD2 and NQO1, while up-regulate the expression of FABP1, which suggested that HBV may interfere with the expression of lipid metabolism proteins, and attribute to hepatocellular steatosis.
