Abstract:Apicomplexan protozoa is a kind of specific intracellular parasitic protozoa. They have conserved subcelular structures and invasion mechanism. The invasion mechanisms are mediated by many invasion-associated factors, including the proteins secreted from micronemes, rhoptries and dense granules. Rhoptry secretion of neck proteins plays a key role in parasite invasion of host cell, which is a virulence factor of this kind of parasitic protozoa. In this paper, we review the latest research progress in apicomplexa rhoptry neck proteins.
