Distribution of Mycoplasma pneumoniae and respiratory pathogens in the specimen collected from Wuxi in the spring of 2015

Abstract:We explored the distribution of Mycoplasma pneumoniae and other respiratory pathogens in the specimens collected from children with respiratory infection in Wuxi. PCR was used to detect Mycoplasma pneumoniae and 10 respiratory pathogens, and nPCR-SSCP-CE was used to detect the mutations associated with macrolide resistance. Results showed that one or more pathogens were detected in 59 of 288 specimens, and the positive rate was 20.5%. The children <2 years old and the female were susceptible. Results indicated that 28.8% (17/59) were Mycoplasma pneumoniae, 30.5% (18/59) were KP, 20.3% (12/59) were SA, 20.3% (12/59) were PA, 15.3% (9/59) were SE, 10.2% (6/59) were HI, 5.08% (3/59) were SP, 5.08% (3/59) were LP, and EC, CP, TB were 0%, respectively. The mutation rate of macrolide associate resistance to Mycoplasma pneumoniae was 88.2%, and the co-infection were detected in 10 specimens.The most common pathogens were Mycoplasma pneumoniae and Kp in Wuxi and there was a high rate of macrolide resistance.
