Abstract:The study was conducted to evaluate the altering patterns of antibacterial drug sensitivity and PFGE typing of Neisseria meningitidis serogroup C strains isolated in Jiangxi Province. Isolates were subjected to a drug susceptibility test using the E-test method and Pulsed-Field Gel Electrophoresis was used to characteristics of molecules. All of the 38 strains were sensitive to chloramphenicol, meropenem, azithromycin, minocycline, cefotaxime, ceftriaxone and rifampicin; 15(39.5%) strains were not sensitive to penicillin, 18(47.4%) strains were not sensitive to ampicillin and 11 (28.9%) were not sensitive to trimethoprim sulfamethoxazole; 25(65.8%) strains were resistant to ciprofloxacin and 23(60.5%) strains were resistant to levofloxacin; PFGE belt type prompt AH1 and AH2 type in the majority. The Neisseria meningitidis serogroup C strains were highly resistant to quinolones, while showed lower resistance to sulfonamides and penicillin isolated in Jiangxi Province. AH1 and AH2 is the main type with the gene polymorphism analysis.
