Abstract:Toxoplasma gondii is an important zoonotic pathogen. It infects a wide range of hosts through varied routes and brings a great harm to human health and animal husbandry.T. gondii infection is closely associated with a variety of neurological disorders, and patients infected with T. gondii may exhibit behavioral abnormalities and mental problems such as schizophrenia, emotional dissonance and self-violence. Here the invasion mechanism, pathogenesis of the central nervous system and the changes of host behavior caused by T. gondii are reviewed.
