Abstract:In order to grasp the epidemic situation and drug sensitivity in Tibetan pigs of Streptococcus suis SS, we isolated six typical gram positive bacilus from Tibet pig in some plateau farm of Tibetan area. After the pure culture for SS, the strain was identified as ss by regular biochemical test and polymerase chain reaction of the argT gene. Six strains of SS were isolated from pig in two different areas——Lasa and Linzhi in Tibet. All isolates were examined for better understand the prevalence of antibiotic resistance using K-B method suggested by WHO. Antimicrobial susceptibility test of 11 antibiotics was performed on the isolated strains. Results indicated that, all of the 11 strains were 100% resistance to vancomycin. The resistance rates of the 11 strains to clarithromycin and tetracycline were 66.7%, to penicillin, erythrocin and chloramphenicol were 50%, and to clindamycin, ciprofloxacin and nitrofurantoin were 33.3%. But the resistance strains were reaching to 83.3%, highly sensitive to norfloxacin, and levofloxacin. As the multidrug-resistance of ss strains in Tibet is increasing serious, it’s very important to enhance the monitoring of drug resistance and use antibiotics more reasonably.
