Abstract:Currently, animal models of the pathogenicity and host immune response to hepatitis A virus (HAV) are mainly non-human primates, such as chimpanzees and marmosets. In addition, animals like tree shrews, guinea pigs, swine and gene knock-out mice can be infected by HAV under experimental conditions and can be selected as alternative animal models. This review is mainly focused on the research progress in animal models of hepatitis A.
