Genotype analysis of Mycoplasma pneumonia in children in Wuxi, 2015-2016

Abstract:We explored the genotype and clinical characteristics of Mycoplasma pneumoniae in children in Wuxi. Real-time PCR was used to detect the samples of children's throat swabs with respiratory tract infection. P1 genotypes, MLVA genotypes and macrolide resistance related genes of positive samples were detected. The clinical data of different types of MP were collected to comprehensively analyze. The results showed that 98 samples were positive for MP-DNA (8.68%) in Wuxi during 2015-2016, 44 specimens were in 2015 (8.07%) and 54 specimens were in 2016 (9.25%). Genotyping results showed that 25 cases (73.5%) of positive samples were classified as type P1-1, 9 cases (26.5%) were classified as type P1-2. M4-5-7-2 (33/44) and M3-5-6-2 (8/44) were the major genotype in Wuxi area. The mutation rate of macrolide associate resistance was 65.9%. The infection rate of M. pneumoniae presented an increased trend in Wuxi during 2015-2016. Type P1-2 occurred at elevated ratio suggested MP infection may switch from type P1-1 to type P1-2 in Wuxi area, and then appear new prevalent subtypes. There was no statistical correlation between the MLVA genotype and the clinical manifestations of MP infected children, and no meaningful relationship between mutation of the macrolide and clinical indicators of children.
