Abstract:To analyze the genetic characteristics and evolution of coxsackievirus A4 (CV-A4) strains isolated in mainland China, MEGA 6.0 software was used to analyze the VP1 region of CV-A4 isolates from mainland China by retrieving the GenBank nucleotide database. Besides, the phylogenetic tree was constructed and the homology of nucleotide and amino acids were calculated. A total of 116 Chinese CV-A4 isolated strains were included in this study. The results showed that the majority of Chinese CV-A4 virus strains isolated from 16 provinces belonged to genotype F. Comparing with the prototype strain High Point, the homology of nucleotide sequences and amino acid sequences of VP1 region of 116 Chinese isolates were 79.9%~84.1% and 92.5%~98.7%, respectively; moreover, the nucleotide and the amino acid homology of VP1 gene of 116 Chinese CV-A4 isolates among themselves ranged from 82.6% to 100. 0% and ranged from 91.5% to 100.0%, respectively. This study suggests that effective measures should be taken to prevent hand-foot-and-mouth disease according to the tendency of molecular epidemiology and genotype distribution of CV-A4 strains isolated in China.
