Two case reports of human thelaziasis and the analysis of their Cox1 gene

Abstract:To explore the genetic differences and phylogenetic relationship between the two isolates of Thelaziacallipaeda from Liaoning and Shandong provinces by detecting the morphology and genotypes of worms.The parasites were taken out from the eye of the patients, and the morphology of worm was observed. The sequences were compared with the published homologous sequences in GenBank after amplying the mitochondrial Cox1 gene by PCR; the phylogenetic were analyzed and compared with the eleven individuals from different regions. The results of this study shows that the two patients could be confirmed as human thelaziasis infected by T.callipaeda and the genotypes of both worms are homologous to European species (99.1% and 99.6%). There are differences in the bases of Cox1 gene amplified from the two worms (8/689),but no obvious genetic variation among the species from different regions(98%-100%).
