Abstract:We investigated the clinical characteristics and molecular types of Listeria monocytogenes in Fujian province, providing reference for the traceability and control of food-borne diseases. Case study was carried out for infected persons reported by the monitoring network, and serotyping and PFGE typing were performed for isolates from clinical cases ready-to-eat food in 2016. All cases were pregnant women and newborns with low immunity. The serotypes of 3 strains isolated from cases were 1 / 2a (2) and 4b (1), while 8 food isolates were serotypes 1/ 2a(5), 4b (2) and 1 / 2b(1). The 11 PFGE samples were classified into 10 types. In 2016, there were sporadic cases of Listeria monocytogenes in Fujian province. PFGE bands were diverse and nonhomologous. Surveillance, enhanced epidemiological surveys and food hygiene education are needed to protect high-risk populations such as pregnant women and newborns.
