Abstract:This work aims to study the polymorphism of the multilocus sequence typing of 18 Burkholderia pseudomallei in Hainan province and to understand the difference in genetic background of the isolates in other endemic areas. Fragments of seven housekeeping genes including ace,glt B,gmh D,lep A,lip A,nar K and ndh were amplified and the obtained sequences were compared using MLST website. 18 isolates of B.pseudomallei were used and it was found 12 STs were identified, among which a new ST1676 was identified in this study. Among these STs, ST50 recovered 22.2% (4 cases ), ST58 (2), ST232 (2), ST1094 (2), and one case of each remaining STs. Overall these result, we concluded Hainan province B.pseudomallei is highly diverse. GmhD is the most variable allele of the seven housekeeping genes, suggested that variation in this allele may be responsible for the high genetic diversity of STs observed in this study.
