Expression changes in PRNP and PRND in renal tissues of BALB/c female mice infected with Staphylococcus aureus ATCC25923

Abstract:To study the relationship between Staphylococcus aureus infection and the expression of cellular prion protein and Doppel protein, we infected female BALB/c mice with Staphylococcus aureus ATCC25923. The mice were euthanized, and different tissues were collected at baseline and 1-7 days post-infection. Tissue smear Gram staining and paraffin sectioning were performed, and the relative expression of the PRNP and PRND genes at baseline and 1-7 days post-infection was detected by fluorescence quantitative RT-PCR. Staphylococcus aureus first appeared in the kidneys, and damage to renal tissues was observed. The expression levels of PRNP and PRND in each period were higher than those at baseline. The expression of PRNP was highest on the first day (6.1 times that of the control), and the expression of PRND was highest on the second day (13.1 times that of the control). Our results suggest that the mRNA expression of PRNP and PRND changes with Staphylococcus aureus post-infection in the kidneys in mice.
