Abstract:P44 is the most widely studied protein encoded by p44/msp2 genes that is expressed on the membrane surface of Anaplasma phagocytophilum. It participates in many complex physiological activities, such as adhesion, invasion, immune escape and metabolism in early stages of infection. These functions are closely related to the pathogenesis of Anaplasma phagocytophilum and have been widely studied in recent research. In this review, the main physiological functions and molecular biological characteristics of P44 are systematically discussed.
