Abstract:This study aimed to understand the status of Yersinia pestis infection in host animals in the plague foci of Spermonphilus alaschanicus in Gansu and to provide a basis for exploring the epidemic status of plague in these foci. Samples of the ileocecal region and contents, pharyngeal swabs or tongue roots, and serum samples from plague host animals in Huining and Pingchuan during the 1960s and 1970s were collected on site from 2016 to 2018. A total of 274 specimens from the tongue base in six species of mice were collected in Huining County, and 275 specimens from the ileocecal region and contents were collected. One non-pathogenic strain of Yersinia enterotidis was detected, and its virulence type was ail- ystA- ystB+ yadA- virF- rfbc-, with a detection rate of 0.18%. A total of 213 tongue base specimens from eight species of rodents were collected in Pingchuan district. No yersinia was detected in 219 ileocecal and content specimens. A total of 312 serum samples of Alxa yellow squirrel serum samples were collected. The plague F1 antibody results were negative. Yersinia may exist in the intestines of the main host animals in the source areas of bubonic plague in Gansu, and the sites with detected Yersinia enterocolitis are consistent with those in which Yersinia pestis was detected in the 1960s and 1970s.
