Abstract:Few studies in China and abroad have examined the biosafety of experimental devices for Non-human primate, and the technology is not mature. Non-human primate are usually reared in single cages in an infectious environment. Although this type of cage can effectively isolate infected experimental animals, the environmental welfare of the Non-human primate population is not considered, and such housing is not suitable for long-term observations of infection experiments. In this study, a Non-human primate biosafety centralized feeding experimental device was designed, which not only completely isolates infected animals without operation but also provides directional airflow during the daily care of animals, thus both ensuring that the monkeys exhibit normal biological characteristics and effectively preventing aerosol infection. We observed the biological characteristics of Non-human primate in this experimental device. We then used chloramphenicol resistant Escherichia coli (Cl+, E.coli, Rosetta strain) as indicator microorganism, which was monitored inside and outside the experimental device with an aerosol collection device, according to the bacterial sedimentation collection method. When the indicator bacteria were enriched in the inner cage, the indicator bacteria and aerosol were not detected in the room or outside the cage, regardless of whether the outer cage of the safety device was open or closed. The experimental device not only ensures normal biological characteristics among Non-human primate but also effectively prevents aerosol infection.
