Introduction to Chinese Journal of Zoonoses
Chinese Journal of Zoonoses is a peer-reviewed professional academic journal in the field of zoonoses. The journal was founded by Chinese Society for Microbiology, Fujian Provincial Department of Health, and Fujian Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention
in 1985, and currently, it is one of the serial journals of Chinese Society for Microbiology.
Chinese Journal of Zoonoses publishes original research papers and state of art reviews of broad interest on control strategy with the novel achievements, new techniques and new experiences used in the national program for
zoonostic diseases control. Submitted manuscripts can report any aspect of the sources, transmission, prevention and control of zoonoses and be authored by scientists with expertise in areas such as microbiology, virology, parasitology
and epidemiology. Articles that incorporate recent data into new methods, applications, or approaches (e.g. statistical modeling) which enhance public health are strongly encouraged. The journal publishes interdisciplinary papers using
the whole range of methods available, modeling, molecular biology, epidemiology, ecology or evolutionary theory.
During the past 3 decades, Chinese Journal of Zoonoses has become a well service platform for popularization of application of scientific research achievements of zoonosis control. In China, over half of the scientific papers on the prevention
and control of zoonostic diseases are published in the journal. And most of the published papers were submitted by Chinese scientists who conducted the projects supported by the National Key Project of Science and Technology,
National Science & Technology Pillar Program of China, National Basic Research Program of China (973 Program), National Natural Science Foundation of China, Hi-Tech Research and Development Program of China (863 Program), WHO/TDR grant, Wellcome Trust, NIH grant, etc. with a high academic level in the country. At present, the journal has a batch of authors and audiences steadily; its academic
level ranks first in the journal list of basic medicine in China.
The journal has been indexed by Chemical Abstracts, Abstract Journal, Cambridge Scientific Abstracts, Japan Science and Technology Agency, Current Bibliography on Science and Technology, Center for Agriculture and Bioscience International,
Zoological Record, and Western Pacific Region Index Medicus. Also the journal was indexed by all Chinese top databases, for example, Chinese Science Citation Database (CSCD), Chinese Science and Technology Paper Citation Database (CSTPCD),
Chinese Biological Medicine Database (CBMD), Chinese Medical Current Contents (CMCC), Chinese Journal Full-text Database (CJFD), Chinese Core Journal (selected) Database, Chinese Science Journal Database, Chinese Biological Abstracts, Chinese Science Abstracts, and so on. In addition, the journal is listed in one of the
“Outstanding Sci & Tech Journals of China”, and recognized as the leading journal in the field of basic medical sciences in China.
Chinese Journal of Zoonoses builds a strong editorial board consists of outstanding scientists lead by Professor Yansheng Yan, Editor-in-Chief, a distinguished virologist, parasitologist and epidemiologist who serves the Director of Fujian Municpal Center for Disease Control and Prevention and a professor of pathogenic biology in Fujian Medical University. Three experts from National Institutes
of Health, University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and University of Texas Medical School at Houston are on the editorial board, and five fellows of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering are also invited to join the
editorial board. A batch of professors with extensive experiences of scientific research and education from the higher medical colleges and universities serves the member of the editorial board. As a consequence, the journal is made assuring that the
papers could be reviewed strictly. All of the manuscripts of the journal are sent to two or three experts for peer review, if there is any dissidence, an additional expert will be invited for the review. In addition, statistical review is assigned if required.
Up to now, the journal has published papers in the forms of original article, review, short communication, commentary, academic forum, and case report. Original article includes the development of novel and innovative concepts and ideas.
The journal also provides a medium for the rapid publications of a limited number of papers reporting highly significant new methods and technologies, such as short communication. It also publishes the thematic issues incorporating papers on
a topical theme and commissioned papers with emphasis on shorter, with a focus of Reviews and Original Articles of thematic issues, and strategically important subjects. The journal encourages critical comments and debates on matters of
current controversy in zoonostic diseases via “Commentary” and “Academic Forum”. Its audiences span veterinary scientists, microbiologist, infectious disease specialists, virologists, public health researchers, and government agencies,
among others. Therefore, the journal can satisfy the needs of different kinds of authors and readers and play an important role in zoonosis research, management and control in China.
