Abstract Arboviruses are transmitted by hematophagus-insect vectors to vertebrates through biting. The Reoviridae are double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) viruses with 9 to 12 genome segments. The viral particles are 20-heahedral symmetrical spherical insize between 60 nm and 80 nm. More than 150 species of reovirus belonging to 15 genera in two subfamilies have been named by the International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV). The virus can infect both the respiratory tract and gastrointestinal tract. It is widely distributed, and has many vectors and hosts. In this paper, the species of mosquito reovirus throughout the world are summarized, and the vectors, geographical distribution and pathogenicity of previously and newly discovered mosquito reovirus in China are classified and summarized to provide basic data for developing disease prevention and control strategies.
